Exhibition Anton Dijkgraaf: ‘Go Gorilla’
April 11, 2026 – May 2, 2026
From April 11, Galeria Luz de la Vida in Cómpeta will present the work of Dutch artist and travel photographer Anton Dijkgraaf. In his studio in Almayate, Andalusia, he creates abstract figurative paintings, working in an associative manner. In a raw and playful way, he draws inspiration from everything that triggers him in daily life. This exhibition will also feature the art of Lieuwke Loth—the gallery’s owner—alongside his work.

Artist Anton Dijkgraaf
For three weeks, the gallery will be transformed into Anton’s creative bubble. Visitors step into his world: a space where imagination, experimentation, and expression are central. The walls display a varied selection of paintings, from small to large, where color, form, and line interact. These works are not just meant to be viewed—they invite reflection. Images that make you pause and ask yourself: “What am I actually seeing?”
Go Gorilla: An Ode to Primal Strength, Energy, and Raw Expressiveness
The title “Go Gorilla” is based on a vulnerable moment. What was always intended as a playful signature and an ode to our primal strength, energy, and raw expressiveness has also gained a deeper meaning. Go Gorilla stands not only for wildness and primal power but also for resilience and vulnerability. The exhibition embodies this layered meaning: a celebration of strength in all its forms.
With this exhibition, Anton wants not only to show the public where his heart lies but also to simply throw a little party. On Saturdays, the artist will be present in the gallery to share the stories behind the works on display. Because Anton usually works alone in his studio, this is a rare opportunity to meet the artist in person. In addition, he offers visitors a rare insight into his self-designed and created books.

Book: Art Notes by Anton
A great example is Anton’s latest book, which begins with the artwork “Not Dead Yet” and ends with the phrase “Enjoy the ride”. This says it all about his working method. In this beautifully produced book, Anton offers insight into his creative process through his paintings and photography. The creative energy that can be felt during the exhibition comes to life in this book as well.
His work is raw, expressive, and intuitive. It breathes a sense of boundlessness—a drive not to stay within boundaries, but to break them open. This direct, unpolished energy makes both the exhibition and the book intense and captivating.
