Art is Málaga

International artists came to ART IS MÁLAGA from different countries especially for this Symposium. From 6 till 10 October 2015 they stayed and worked in the National Park in Cómpeta with Lieuwke. Then they came to Malaga for the 2nd part of the Symposium from 10 till 12 October, 2015. Also quite a number of international & Spanish artists who live in the region Costa del Sol joined the group. Every day about 20 artists were working in the ‘Mercado Merced’.

The successful Art Day that Helene Mostertman and Lieuwke Loth organized together with Barrio Picasso gave them the idea to a bigger event in October. An International Art Symposium! The contacts and networks that Helene has built up in Malaga as restaurant owner and president of Barrio Picasso plus the experience Lieuwke has in organizing art events and being participant in different Symposia, they are a prefect match. The 1st edition in Malaga is now almost a fact. The new gastronomic market, Mercado Merced, which opened the 25th of September, seems to be the prefect place for such event. The municipality of Malaga, the beer brand Cruz Campo, Mercado Merced, Restaurant Vino Mio (Helene) and Gallery Luz de la Vida (Lieuwke) are sponsoring and supporting the event.

International artists: Setenay Ozbek (Turkey), Merrel Holleboom (Netherlands), Lieuwke Loth (Netherlands), Jorg van Daele (Belgium), George Kowzan (England), Eva Joensen (Denmark), Hossam Dirar (Egypt), Nina Stoupina (Russia/Belgium), Reka Lakatos (Hungary), Jackie Mestrom (Netherlands), Raquel Noguerol Perez (Spain), Gabriella Ehrling (Switzerland), Hajnal Miklos (Hungary), Luis Maldonado Rubino (Spain), John James Barrett (UK), Ana Maria D’Ambrosio (Spain), Oskar Rodriguez (Spain), Annabel Keatley (UK), Pablo Gamberale (Argentina).
